You Could be a Cop started out with two brothers rocking out in their parents basement in the suburbs of the third largest city in Norway, Trondheim. Morten had years behind him in different indie, punkrock and emobands as a drummer and producer, while brother Marius just had learned to play bass through the guitar game Rocksmith on Playstation.

Morten then tried to take som online guitar lessons on YouTube, but failed miserably as he just had gotten a kid back home. In between baby crying and sleepless nights he still managed to write some songs on the guitar without even knowing one single chord.

After some weekends in the basement they had four songs on tape, but no vocals. Luckily Morten had crossed paths with the UK singer songwriter Natalie Evans before. She put up a microphone in her bedroom in London and not soon after, they could call themselves a band with four songs on their hands.

After some chatting around as many as ten labels all over the world agreed to join in on a release. And here it is! Four songs rooted in 90s emo - genuine, raw and heartfelt. What you hear is what you get - with limited resources from the start until the end, the band has proved that it is still possible to «do it yourself».

This band is for fans of: Rainer Maria, Mineral, Christie Front Drive, Slowdive, Low, Yo La Tengo, Superchunk, JeJune.

Track Name: the things we could be
I ran up the stairs just like you
the TV snow in the corner of the room
painted the walls, the pictures you drew
I'll never forget looking back as you disappeared
I couldn't see how a tiny dot in the distance
could make me feel so small
I'm a tiny dot in the distance
that make me feel...
the songs that played on in the background
while we thought of the things we could be
I'm here now and then
Track Name: sequin lights
morning light came way too soon for us
when we walked all night
up and down the hills by your house
under sequin lights
I feel like I have been missing out on things
since we said goodbye
staring out at fields from your house
in a sequin light

half awake on the ride in
we try not to be late
how much have you changed?
Track Name: hard to forget
lying down, staring up at the ceiling
it's easy to pretend I'm in a different room
while we wrap up warm on the floor as the night sky is replaced

we stay up talking to sounds of the city
in a yellow blur of light seen from the street
where do you go when the good songs come on?
I find it hard to stay
I find it hard to forget remembering
Track Name: the roof of your room
do you still have your smart coat? did it ever feel part of you? you didn't wanna look so young when we walked in our broken shoes. and the wires from our headphones blew and tangled up when I looked at you. whoever of us had the most to hold, we hoped that the sky would hold the rain too. whoever of us had the most to hold, we hoped that the sky would hold the rain until we could hear it beat down on the roof of your room. I would tell you nothing, there was nothing to tell. I would tell you nothing if there was something to tell. do you still have that blue car? It was a cure for your heavy heart. you said you didn't wanna drive so fast that the weightlessness wouldn't last. and so we fell asleep under the stars as the ocean waves fell apart.
